A bedside table does a surprising amount of work in a small area. It holds what you need at the end of the day and the beginning of the next. Start with those habits, and a lamp becomes part of the arrangement rather than another object to work around.
Begin with the usable surface.
Set out what needs to be there: a book, a glass, perhaps a place for glasses. Then look at the space that remains. The entire shade matters, not just the base footprint. A broad shade can take up visual and physical room beyond the part touching the table.
Once final product measurements are available, mark out the lamp footprint on paper. Check shade width, assembled height, and the space needed for a cord and control. Do not use a styled image as a measuring guide. Pebble’s low oval form is a design direction; its final assembled dimensions are not yet confirmed.
Look from pillow height.
A lamp that looks right while you are standing may feel different from the bed. Sit or lie in your usual position and check your sightline. Can you see directly into the source? Is the control within comfortable reach? Does the shade obstruct something you use?
If reading in bed is part of your routine, plan for that explicitly. Mood lighting and reading light have different requirements. Confirm output, shielding, controls and placement rather than assuming that a warm-looking lamp will provide enough light for a page.
Leave a little quiet around it.
Try one lamp and one lower group of objects, rather than filling every corner. A small book stack can make a rounded form feel grounded. Linen and a plain wall let a ribbed shade provide the detail without needing more decoration.
For shared bedrooms, matching lamps are one option, not a rule. Different tables or different reading habits may call for different arrangements. Keep the composition calm by repeating a material or a color elsewhere, while allowing each side to work for the person using it.
